Jonathan Bach picked up a national award from the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) in the banking and finance category for his investigative piece, “Cracked foundation”, which explored equity in lending in what are known as majority minority census tracts. Bach and fellow reporter Malia Spencer were honored in the real estate category for their powerful piece on the effort to revitalize the lower Albina neighborhood, which for decades was a hub for Black culture in Portland before being bulldozed in the name of urban renewal.
